2019 Women's World Cup: England beats Argentina

England has qualified in advance for the last 16 teams of the FIFA World Cup in France. Jodie Taylor (61) shot her national team to a 1-0 win against Argentina's underdogs. England is leading Group C with six points and can no longer be surpassed by South Americans ranked third (1). In the last group match against Second Japan, England won the group's victory (19 June, ticker live at 9 pm on Good king News ONLINE).

As for the surprising 0: 0 in the opening match against Japan, Argentina has opted for a very defensive tactic. The 37th in the world ranking has left England since the beginning of the match. The Three Lionesses attempted to separate the opposing ranks and enter the penalty area through the wings. For the first time, Lucy Bronze got a center on the right with Jill Scott (13), whose head, goaltender Vanina Correa, held up well.

Correa parried a penalty

Fifteen minutes later, the match was explosive: Alex Greenwood dribbled the ball through the Argentinian penalty area and was rinsed by Ruth Bravo (28). The referee Qin Liang correctly awarded a penalty. Nikita Parris entered, but Correa parried the shot halfway up the right corner of the hand. Argentina has not had a dangerous chance. But the Europeans had the opportunity to get their heads back shortly before the break. But Beth Mead failed autarkically at the still remarkable parade Correa (41).

The second half began while the first half was over: with a Correa parade. After a free kick, Parris led Dropkick into the penalty area, but Correa defended himself (53). A Taylor's head at close range held the guard (56.). But then, it happened: Bethany Mead was released to the left from the penalty area and served Taylor in the center, allowing a little distance to the lead of the match (61.). After that, England continued to dominate with more possession and more accurate passes. England has presented 19 shots in the end, Argentina only three.

In the second match of the day, Japan beat Scotland 2 to 1. While England is in the third game (June 19) for the group's win, Argentina plays against the Scotland for third place, which could still be enough to reach the round of 16.
