American footballer Alejandro Bedoya took advantage of the celebration of his goal to make a political statement against gun violence in the United States. A day after the bloody killings in El Paso, Texas and in Dayton, Ohio, the captain of Philadelphia United had first celebrated the advance of Sunday's game against Washington United (5- 1). Bedoya then rushed to a microphone at the edge of the board and called, "Hey Congress, do something now! Stop the gun violence! Start!"
The 32-year-old national had already criticized in a tweet before the game in the United States after Saturday's violence with a total of 29 deaths. "Words without action are simply not worth it," he wrote on Twitter.
After the two bloody acts, there is again question in the United States of stricter legislation on firearms. For years, the efforts of the US Congress have been fruitless. The Republican Party of Donald Trump and the US President himself strictly oppose stricter laws. The powerful NRA arms lobby vehemently opposes any attempt to regulate the possession of firearms. The right to own firearms is enshrined in the US Constitution.
See more thoughts and prayers of bullshit.
Words without actions are worthless. America, it seems, is becoming a dystopian society.
Do something !!! Enough !!!
