A DUI suspect was identified who led police in a dangerous high-speed chase through the San Fernando Valley in a stolen RV with two dogs in his lap.
The California Highway Patrol identified the suspect as Julie Ann Rainbird, 52, of Winnetka.
The chase began around 7 p.m. in the Santa Clarita area due to lack of performance, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities said the RV was stolen from Giant RV in Downey. The owner of the motor home, a woman from Granada Hills, said that not only was her motor home stolen, but her identity information was also stolen. That information was used to buy a motorcycle in Simi Valley. The victim of the robbery was notified of that purchase on April 30, which is when he reported the crime to Simi Valley police.
The recreational vehicle crashed into at least six other cars during the chase, destroying the passenger side of the vehicle.
In the middle of the chase, one of the dogs jumped down the shattered front windshield and ran while she continued driving.
The chase finally ended when the RV crashed into a car in Tarzana and the woman jumped and fled on foot. Officers approached her quickly and stopped her while trying to jump the fence of a house in the neighborhood.
