With the modification of the law on telecommunications, the German legislator transposes the regulations of the EU on the cooperation of various radio reception systems in national law. The Bundestag had previously adopted the bill on October 17th.

The digital Minister of State at the Chancellor, Dorothee Bär of the CSU, stated that the DAB + guided by the law is now no longer possible. "The amendment greatly accelerates the digitization of the radio". This will improve the distribution and acceptance of DAB + throughout Germany.

Even rural areas covered

Heike Raab, a member of the SPD and media secretary of the State Chancellery of Rhineland-Palatinate, also welcomed the decision: "Quality and widespread diffusion convince everywhere, even in rural areas".

With the now uniform regulation at national level, listeners from all over Germany have benefited from a greater selection of programs and a better sound. "Producers, retailers and program providers have the planning security necessary to convert their equipment portfolio."
