Furthermore, Roberto Mancini's team qualified for the first time in Italian history with the highest score obtained for a European championship, eleven consecutive victories are another premiere for the 1968 European champion.

The Italians also scored more than nine goals at the end of the 1928 Olympic Games against Egypt (11: 3). The last defeat in qualifying for the European Championships was Italy on 2 September 2006 at 1: 3 against France.

In the Spanish F group, Sweden won 3: 0 (1: 0) against Faroeer, thanks in part to Sebastian Andersson's advantage from the Union Bundesliga club in Berlin, while the Scandinavians secured their sixth league appearance in a row. In third place Norway improved by a 2-1 (1-1) in Malta.

The Finnish national hero Teemu Pukki scored his tenth goal in a tenth qualification in Greece 1-1 (1-1), and the Finns made their first appearance at the European championships in the Italian group during the week.
