From Thursday, November 28, Aldi Süd will be offering a 55-inch Sony 4K TV (138.8 cm). The price is surprising: the device should cost only 399 euros. Typically, branded displays of this size that dissolve in Ultra HD quality are significantly more expensive.
As reported by heise.de, the deal TV actually has some peculiarities that explain the price. Therefore, the Sony KD-55XF7005 TV number is a model of the previous year. The screen is based on LED technology instead of OLED, which allows a better contrast display. Also on Dolby Vision and HDR10 + buyers have to do without the Aldi device.
Furthermore, the operating system for this device is based on Linux. The new Sony TVs use an Android operating system that offers more options on the App and Content pages. But there is a way in which users can also access additional smart features on Aldi's low-cost television: with an HDMI connection, any device can be updated with a streaming gadget. Such devices (eg Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K, the Fire TV Cube or a Google Chromecast) is available for around 60 euros for the purchase.
After all, the Netflix, Amazon Video and YouTube apps are pre-installed on KD-55F7005. The display resolves at 3,840 x 2,160 pixels and supports playback of HDR content. These are already good prerequisites for streaming current movies and series. However, users probably have to compromise on image quality, brightness and brightness, heise.de expects.
